Our Staff
Mike Warren
Director
Mike Warren is the director of
Laurel Ridge Camp, Conference &
Retreat Center. He has been with
Laurel Ridge since 2000 and has
loved every moment of it. Mike
came to Laurel Springs from
Raleigh, NC, where he owned a
small business. He’s an alumnus
of North Carolina State
University and holds both an
undergraduate and a master’s
degree in parks and recreation;
he minored in Public
Administration. Mike and his
wife, Deanne, live with their
dog and cat, Sam and Omie. His
hobbies include watching NC
State sports, hiking,
identifying and photographing
wildflowers, and acting in
Jefferson Arts Council stage
productions with his wife.
Laura Watson
Assistant Director
Laura Watson is the assistant
director of Laurel Ridge and
joined the Laurel Ridge family
in January of 2008. Her early
experiences on the mountain
include four summers on M-Staff
and two summers as program
coordinator. Prior to coming to
Laurel Ridge, she taught in
Orlando, Florida and worked at
Salem College, her alma mater,
as the Assistant Director of
Admissions. She is a life-long
member of Home Moravian Church
and is thrilled that her
husband, Mark, is now a Moravian
too. She enjoys sharing Laurel
Ridge with families and
individuals who are visiting for
the first time and looks forward
to Moravian Mountain Christmas
every year.
Lynn Smith
Operations Manager
Lynn Smith is the operations
manager of Laurel Ridge. With a
mom who cooked at Laurel Ridge
for 13 summers and two brothers
who served on M-Staff, where
else would Lynn end up? Along
with a degree in business
administration from Elon
College, Lynn has over 30 years
of experience in all aspects of
business operations. She has
been at Laurel Ridge for 10
years. Away from camp Lynn
enjoys kayaking, birding,
wildflower hikes, and gardening.
David Hook
Facilities Manager
David Hook, our facilities
manager, joined the Laurel Ridge
family in September 2008.
Originally from Fory Wayne,
Indiana, he grew up in
Chattanooga. When he isn’t busy
maintaining all of our many
buildings, he likes to garden,
read, fish and work with wood.
Mark Watson
Maintenance Assistant
Robin Beamon
Higgins Lodge Food Services
Manager
Robin Beamon joined Laurel Ridge
in 2001 and is the Higgins Lodge
food services manager. She
previously worked for the
Highlander Restaurant in Laurel
Springs and as a yarn spinner in
Boonville. She is a graduate of
Glasgow High School in Delaware.
Robin enjoys the color sky blue,
feeding people, computer games,
and surfing the web.
