Feed My Sheep:

In April 2011 Laurel Ridge began our “Feed My Sheep” capital campaign to raise $900,000 for the reconstruction of the Summer Camp Kitchen and to pay down the debt at Higgins Lodge that resulted from the 2007 expansion project. The Summer Camp Kitchen, which is now over 50 years old, must be upgraded to bring it into compliance with NC Health Department codes. The new kitchen will include:

  • a separate area for washing dirty dishes
  • improved storage space
  • upgraded equipment
  • new restrooms

The estimated cost for the kitchen is $459,764 and Frank Blum Construction began construction on August 22, 2011. The other component of the campaign, paying down the debt at Higgins, is a result of delays in construction and rising costs for the new kitchen, dining room, and Salem Wing, as well as unforeseen issues with septic and water systems.

The “Feed My Sheep” campaign has hosted several exciting events, such as an aluminum can drive, a drive-in movie, a bowl-a-thon, and a golf tournament. These activities have helped raise several thousand dollars for the campaign; however we still need your support.

We ask that you keep Laurel Ridge in your prayers as we move forward to Feed all our Sheep and both honor and preserve our ministry on the mountain.
